Cliff Notes for an Alaska Cruise

After a cruise to Alaska to celebrate my Dad's Eightieth Birthday I now have the daunting task of editing all the photos in a meaningful but concise way so as not bore myself, along with everyone else.  I have always heard that cruises are a great way to travel, especially for families and I would be the first to admit that I was skeptical that going on a cruise could be fun, but I knew going to Alaska would be a photographers dream and of course how can you not help your dad celebrate an eightieth birthday.  So despite all the worries of seasickness by some, too much family togetherness and picking the wrong excursions, we all had a great time on our Alaskan Cruise.

First night on the ship you have to settle for beautiful sunsets and disco lights on the deck. Not to mention all the food, drinks, casinos and etc that you could ever need.

Then amazingly you wake up after being at sea for a day and half and you find yourself right in the middle of a cute little town in Alaska.

First adventure is embarking on a seaplane which I think is the only way to see Alaska when the weather is perfect.

A fishing shack always makes for a great photo.

Another night of sailing and then you wake up to a magical place that makes you realize that this is why you take a cruise to Alaska, Mendenhall Glacier.

Someone in the family that really knows how to take photos.

After some serious maneuvering, a quick jaunt to Juneau for a half day visit. We quickly figured out leisurely off and last back on is the way to go.  Glad to find this great spot for a little local dining.

Tracy's Crab Shack and yes that is Tracy!

Last port in Alaska for us was Skagway. If you can't be in a float plane, a train is not a bad way to travel.

Nothing but open waters and beautiful sunsets on the way home.

A side trip to Victoria, BC with the the not to miss Butchart Gardens.

A Perfect Day on a Perfect Trip

Happy 80 Years of Living!
